They suggested:
- That I focus on the tension between the youth of Kreuzberg and the conservative Turkish 'older generations'
- Who am I showing this to? Who's the audience? Youth or old?
- Take it out of the subway - this is because they already have this to perform and I can't make that aspect better
- Is the fast motion of the subway or the street where most battles happen, part of the atmosphere? Is this something that would warrant design consideration? For example boats passing the float.
- Look into how break-dance battles interact with the audience
- How does the positioning of the audience influence the design of the stage - draw this out
- Is there the potential for a temporary stage? Something that can be rolled out to act as the stage? Like cardboard thrown down on the street.
- Draw / collage / mindmap etc. designs rather than using sketch-up as I have already shown I am competent in these programmes.
This being said, I want to look more at the forms that break-dancers have as they perform moves to possibly influence my design.
End of class discussion: Things to keep in mind:
- Due Thursday - two weeks time - printed not digital presentation
- Design strategy - part of the assessment criteria:
- Map out timeline for next two weeks
- Work back from deadline
- x1 A0 board and synopsis
- Plan
- Sections
- Site Plan
- Diagrams / sketches of how it will be used
- Remember that this is an idea / conceptual based project
- Compelling and provactive performance concept
- Spatial quality - don't focus too much about the structure and detail.
